My research focuses on Black politics in the Americas. I examine Black public opinion and Black consciousness to determine how attitudes are influenced by the juxtaposition of national narratives of racial harmony and realities of structural racism.

Examining the compounding impact of microaggressions on psychological well-being among emerging adult sexual and gender minorities of color.

I earned my PhD in Social Welfare and both my M.S. and a B.A. in Psychology at Florida International University, and I hold a license in Mental Health Counseling with more than a decade of clinical experience working with both youth and adults in community-based research. Additionally, I have a combined nine years of experience serving as an adjunct lecturer for Florida International University in both the Department of Psychology and the School of Social Work.
